MISSING IN ACTION: The Eels have got the luxury of relatively unchanged lineup, a relief for coach Ricky Stuart who was grasping for positives after last week’s humiliating 0-50 loss to the Roosters.
Todd Carney’s foot injury he picked up last week against the Dragons will see him miss three weeks of action, while Michael Lichaa (hamstring) is due back next week. Bryce Gibbs (Achilles) is expected to return in around a month’s time, while Ricky Leutele (ankle) still hasno confirmation of a return.
FORM: After a commanding performance over the Warriors in their first match of the season, the Eels have been struggling to find any consistency in their efforts since.
Last week’s 0-50 hammering at the hands of the Roosters illustrated a rudderless ship, something nobody expected after their opening round performance.
After unleashing 40 points against the Warriors, the Eels have only been able to score 34 points in their next three matches, a worrying sign for Stuart and his go-to man, Jarryd Hayne.
The Sharks have paired 12-10 and 28-4 victories over the Titans and Warriors respectively with a narrow 12-14 loss to the unbeaten Rabbitohs and a 12-25 loss to a desperate Dragons side.
While motivation certainly isn’t lacking for the Sharks, one thing is clear – the loss of Todd Carney will cause a lot of problems for a side who average 16 points per game.
